A Point To Share A journey through Microsoft Commerce Server and other .NET platforms

The Commerce Team have been working hard, and the second release of the 2009 Commerce Server product has now hit CTP. The team are also currently looking for Microsoft client's to assist in the on-going development of this release by participating in the Microsoft Commerce Server TAP program.

The latest release of the product which is rumoured to be set for release in early 2010 now includes:

  • In-line Catalogue editor: a feature we saw introduced after the initial release of CS 2009 on Codeplex, the further developed solution now allows you to edit catalogue and category metadata in-line to the Commerce Server site, allowing business users work on content management without the need for the installation of the Business User tools.
  • Channel Configuration features: The updated feature provides a better channel configuration experience and supports the use of multiple catalogues. You no longer have to type a text value for the channel or catalogue that you want your site to use, and you no longer have to open each channel item in a separate window to edit it and commit the change. The updated Channel Configuration feature contains a user interface in which you select the channel and catalogue that you want to use.

This release also see enhancements on the new multi-channel foundation services introduced in the 2009 release, as well as enhanced-cross channel sales support. The pre-release is available to download here with a configuration and installation guide also available. As with all pre-release software this product is time limited and will not function after 31st March 2010.
