My Articles

The Roanoke Valley .NET User Group (www.rvnug.org) finished its second Code Camp yesterday and in my opinion it was a HUGE success!  I want to especially recognize and/or thank the following people (in no particular order) for their contribution(s):

  • Bret Shawn - Bret was responsible for the speaker's lounge.  He did a SUPER job.  He had fresh fruit and other snacks, plenty of water, and special gift bags for the speakers.  It was a great experience as a speaker.
  • Gilbert Armour - Gilbert was the venue represntative (and a speaker).  He worked his tail off yesterday dealing with projector issues and other facilities logistics.  He helped me in my first presentation and I really appreciate it!
  • Attendees - Without them, the event would be silly and pointless.  I appreciate everyone who participated in my presentations.

I also had the privelege of meeting some really interesting people.  I'm sure I left a few off but...

  • Kevin Hazzard
  • Bryce Covert
  • Michael Lotter
  • Nass Ali
  • Kevin Jones
  • Steve Fibich
  • Chris Eargle

Of course, I did get to see some folks I already know.  But some folks weren't able to make it.

  • Bill Ryan - Every time I hear about this guy participating in a Code Camp he has a super rough time getting it going.  This time, flat tire at 4:30 in the AM while driving from Atlanta, GA.   It's always good to chat with Bill though and I'm glad he made it safely!
  • Andy Leonard - I regret that I didn't have more time to chat-up Andy.  He's a wealth of knowledge, sure, but he's also a great guy!  Thanks a bunch for participating Andy!
  • Chris Williams - I owe a lot to Chris.  No one has more committment to the cause than he does.  Unfortunately, he didn't make it due to weather delays in Detroit.  Next year dawg!

Code Camps are an excellent opportunity to share information and learn a bunch.  I appreciate the opportunity to share what I've learned and also the opportunity to learn from others.    I can't wait until next year!
