You know, I tried to warn them.  Just because it's open source and it's not Microsoft doesn't mean it's safe or of better quality.  Here's the full details of the current exploit.  Oh, and there's no “patch“ cause they don't need no stinking patches.  But wait, there's no new version with a fix yet either....

The open source geeks are on it though, watch for a spike in Mountain Dew sales.  Probably a good time to short Pepsi stock and make a quick buck.

I place a "buy" recommendation on doritos stock as well :)

Gotta love it. I just had this debate with a semi-religious linux/apple/netscape/mozilla/anything-but-microsoft fanatic this past week.

I predict that as FireFox continues to become more popular, we will see more stories like this. Nothing like a few million end-users to expose flaws in a product.

Don't count on FireFox going anywhere especially after IE 7.0. It’s just a really annoying fad, like the iPod (mark my words it will die). The ONLY people using it (FireFox) are people being forced to that really don't care what there using by overly stupid system administrators, and web developers who don't seem to understand an important concept that software developers have gotten for decades, develop for the platform used by the majority (Windows). Like all these web developers are doing is trying to look cool by using the latest CSS specification. WTF is this, high school?

"The ONLY people using it (FireFox) are people being forced to that really don't care what there using by overly stupid system administrators, and web developers..." Man, what planet are you from? Many, many people -- intelligent informed people -- ARE using it by choice. This is the sort of polemicism that does the debate no good. One of the key issues is the existence of options -- options are Good. We want users to be able to choose platforms / tools / etc. There are risks associated with each one. But, in teh absence of options, people are not able to manage their risk profiles and elect the level of exposure / functionality / etc. that suits their needs. It's not black and white.
